With SociaCard you can login via Facebook Connect or Twitter OAuth. From there you’ll need to create a username, enter your email, edit your name (if needed) and add a profile image.

EDIT YOU CARD

Next you’ll add your social profiles; boy do they have a long list of sites to choose from. For those with a large online presence, this may take awhile. After you’re done, your social media profiles can be rearranged by simply dragging and dropping them into the order that you choose.

ADD LOCATION

SociaCard can track your physical location (with your permission of course) via Google; if the location is not correct, you can change it with the integrated Google map.

ADD FRIENDS TO DECK

The deck is a place to keep track of all your friends and their cards. You can import friends from your Google account contacts to be added to your deck and also to share your card with. If you know a user’s SociaCard URL you can also add them to your deck by clicking on the “add to deck” button directly on their card.

SEND MESSAGES

Your friends can add messages right to your card. I signed up using Facebook connect and it allows me to add messages via Facebook. So I’m assuming that if you use Twitter, messages will be added via your Twitter account. Not to be confused with private messages, these “messages” are pretty much just comments that are displayed on your card. Note: You won’t actually see the messages that have been added until you click on the “message” button.

CONCLUSION

Though in early beta and missing a few features like themes and private messaging, the final result is clutter free card that serves its purpose: showing off your social media profiles.

This experiment is a result of the growing need to offer its users an enhanced experience while reading news articles. They are looking at enabling users to get a comprehensive coverage of stories, rather than having to search for relevant articles. This application once completed will allow publications, news channels and news portals to present the complete coverage at one place, hence saving time and effort of the users.

The plugin would be very convenient for the users reading the stories as it will provide the previous articles related to the news, thus helping them have a proper backdrop on the story. Last year Google partnered with reputed news papers like the Washington Post and New York Times to test this concept. They had provided complete coverage on the Afghanistan war as well as the football season for the Redskins. Needless to say it was a great success; simply due to the convenience in tracking news and much less time needed to read the complete set of relevant articles.

Google recently launched an open-source version for this application and it allows news agencies to use in their websites. This plugin will be highly useful for people creating content in WordPress.
